Becca Blank is a co-founder of Voces de Nashville and currently serves as Business Development Chair. Most of her free time is spent working in the garden, being with close friends and family, and building community in South Nashville.
A Nashville native, Becca started her teaching career in 2014 working with English language learners in Houston, Texas. After seeing the value of having bilingual staff in our schools, she moved to Cañete, Chile to teach English at a public high school and improve her Spanish. She returned home in 2019 and began working with Spanish-speaking students and families in Metro Nashville Public Schools. At that time, she completed an M.Ed. with a focus on entrepreneurship in education.
Out of these 2 experiences–learning how to start a business and learning the challenges that face Spanish-speakers and teachers in the Metro school system–came the initial idea for Voces.
Becca Blank es una de las cofundadoras de Voces de Nashville. La mayor parte del tiempo libre de Becca lo dedica a trabajar en el jardín, estar con amigos cercanos y familiares y construir una comunidad en el sur de Nashville.
Nativa de Nashville, Becca comenzó su carrera docente en 2014 trabajando con estudiantes del idioma inglés en Houston, Texas. Después de ver el valor de tener personal bilingüe en nuestras escuelas, se mudó a Cañete, Chile, para enseñar inglés en una escuela secundaria pública y mejorar su español. Regresó a casa en 2019 y comenzó a trabajar con estudiantes y familias de habla hispana en las Escuelas Públicas de Metro Nashville. En ese momento, completó un M.Ed. con un enfoque en el emprendimiento en la educación.
De estas 2 experiencias—aprender a iniciar un negocio y conocer los desafíos que enfrentan los hispanohablantes y los maestros en el sistema escolar de Metro—surgió la idea inicial de Voces.
