Building Bilingualism in the Workplace:
Urban Housing Solutions

Local affordable housing non-profit Urban Housing Solutions invested in their staff by providing them with weekly Spanish classes. The goal was to improve communication between colleagues and between property managers and Spanish-speaking residents. They absolutely nailed it!

UHS staff members from all departments took the time to learn basic Spanish conversation and how to apply it in the context of their workplace. In this 10-week course, participants practiced having basic get-to-know-you conversations, giving directions, describing real UHS properties, and more!

“[Voces] continuously created a fun and open environment, even when the pace became a bit challenging. Because of this experience, I truly have more respect and understanding for the language and anyone who has the ability to speak both.

Community Classes w/ Cosecha Language School reach over 275 students!

We’re proud to have hosted our 9th class session with Cosecha Community Development. We are so grateful that Cosecha invited us in 2 years ago to fulfill our shared mission of offering language classes to Nashvillians ready to learn. We’re now helping Cosecha to offer English classes as well! Check our our recently published August-October schedule to get in on the learning.

Wrapping up our 3rd FREE beginner crash course at the Thompson Lane Library for 2023!

Our friends at Thompson Lane Library Branch of the Nashville Public Library have opened their doors to neighbors wishing to jump start their Spanish-learning journey. It’s so cool to see what folks can learn in just 4 classes when the emphasis is on conversation! Mark your calendar for the next class starting August 19th, and reach out to librarian Chris to reserve your spot.
